Having Hanna as our Doula is/was the best decision. If you don’t read anything more, know that Hanna was critically important, and essential for our birth experience.

Hanna is the absolute best. Her ability to quickly build a connection with us, understand our goals and educate us on options before birth, set a solid foundation for our labor experience.

Labor is where we felt like Hanna was an essential and integral part of our team. She thought of everything. For example, we wanted a labor room with a bath tub. She coached us on how to advocate for a room with a tub and when there was only one available in the hospital she knew just how to lock us into that room. When we left triage and were admitted, Hanna had already arranged for the tub to be filled and ready for use. She had vomit bags, essential oils, and knew where everything was at the hospital. When we were in need of supplies for comfort or labor, they always seemed to appear at the right moment. No doubt because Hanna knew us, our desires and was always meeting our needs one step ahead.

Beyond the logistics, Hanna played a critical role in our experience with the medical teams. She would help us understand the medical information, destilled it down and also presented us with options or questions we could ask to get more information and ensure our birth experience remained in alignment with our wants and goals. Most importantly, UofM Hospital allows Doulas to go with the birthing person to the OR for C-section prep while the birth partner cannot. Hannah was an additional advocate in the OR that was familiar with our goals and perhaps more important, Hanna was amazing emotional support for the birthing person as the intensity of the C-section prep increased. Hanna was there supporting and guiding us through the C-section procedure. We were scared and it felt intense. In those moments Hanna offered words of affirmation and small nuggets of information that helped us understand how things were going and where we were in the process.

Note to the Birth Partners: Hanna took care of all the “background” things and allowed me to be very present and support my wife in all of the hard and important moments. As we reflect on our birth experience, the fact that I was bedside holding her hand and encouraging her is incredibly meaningful for us.

We strongly encourage you to work with Hanna. At least set-up a preliminary Zoom call. We’re sure you’ll see her energy and passion right away.

P.S. She takes amazing photos!”

“Hanna and Lexi were great to work with! I felt supported and educated throughout my pregnancy, labor, delivery, and recovery as a first time mom!”

I was recommended Hanna’s services by my midwife and had gone back and forth as to whether a doula would be worth the money.

It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. If you’re on the fence, do it!

I was very set on an intervention free hospital birth and I credit the success of this exclusively to Hanna’s team. We had Alexis, her partner, who arrived at the hospital minutes after we did and worked me through the whole process. She knew exactly what to say and do when I felt like giving up. I absolutely would have caved into getting an epidural without her there to help me get through the pain. I could go on and on about how helpful she was from advocating for my decision to have no IV fluids and changing my position down to the detail of ordering my food from the hospital cafeteria and checking in frequently in the days and weeks after her birth. Having her there allowed my husband to take a more nurturing role because he wasn’t in the crossfire which made it more of a special event for both of us. I would give 6/5 stars if I could.”

“Five stars doesn’t even touch the positive impact Hanna had on my birth journey.

My water broke prematurely at 32 weeks & Hanna went above & beyond for myself, baby, & family. Her support and positive energy brought me strength to push myself during an unwanted (but necessary) induction & c-section for the safety of myself & my baby.

Having Hanna by my side in the operating room before my partner was allowed back, calmed my nerves and I truly never felt scared through all of the chaos. She even went above and beyond the birth and visited my baby in the NICU, visited me postpartum when I was having complications, and did everything in her power to get me close to the birth that I wanted.

I had an infection in my placenta so I was not able to do the placenta encapsulation, so she took pictures and videos of my placenta and did a blood print of the placenta for me.

Having her capture pictures of my sons first moments of life that I wasn’t able to be there for, there’s no replacing those ima She went above & beyond in every aspect of my journey. My partner and I truly felt cared for and loved (and still do!) by Hanna. If I ever carry another child, there’s no doubt in my mind that I want her there by my side..”

“Hanna is simply amazing! Worth every penny! After the birth, we cannot stop saying, “I don’t think we could have done it without her.” As first-time parents, we are college educated and completed the Bradley Method course, and we highly recommend her.

She was very attentive and stayed with us throughout the whole birth in the hospital; which was almost an entire day & night! She knew how to navigate the hospital room so well, I felt like she worked there. As the husband, it was priceless, to be able to take a thirty-minute rest while she stayed with my wife or grab some food and walk. We never felt as if she was rushed and was there to stick it out with us! I guess, you get what you pay for. We cannot recommend her enough. Thank you so much for being a part of our special event!”
